Assisted Living Facility

The concept of this assisted living facility is light.  Light and illumination were extracted into the design by focusing on making the space easy to navigate and comfortable for the residents.

Process

The design of this Assisted Living Facility focused on research-based design.  The research largely included common concerns in Assisted Living Facilities such as lack of wayfinding, impaired mobility, visual impairment, auditory issues, and lack of comfort or sense of home.  The research found that 92% of old adults have at least one chronic condition between psychological, mobility, visual, or auditory impairments, and 77% have at least four from these categories.  In the image to the right, the bubbles highlight how in just one vignette of the space you can see all five of the major issues have been addressed in this space.
